In the game of go, ponnunki is shape of four stones after capturing one stone. Although these stones only surround 1 point, there is a saying that a ponnunki in the center is worth more than 20 points. This is because it's hard to attack, and it's easy to extend from to make territory. Also, a ponnuki is useful for invading and destroying the opponent's territory.
