gat is a slang term for gun, a term sometimes used in ebonics. The term is beleived to have derived from the gattlin gun from the civil war era, circa 1855 or so. Ghetto.org approves of such slang only when referring to a glock, the only weapon of choice for the ghetto.org pimps.
