When you conform to a dress code you are wearing certain articles of clothing that have been approved by a group of people. Dress codes are usually used to control an activity or reduce distraction to members of the opposite sex.

Usually used by schools to keep the kids in check.

Idea created by a conformist society, based on the theory that if people (Namely, high school students) are denied the right to dress as they please, their wills will be broken enough so that they will not complain to whatever cockamaney rules the school board hands down.
