Shrewd junk shop owner Watto supplies parts for podracing pilots and galaxy travellers alike - but only for those who can afford his prices. One of Mos Espa's smaller dealers, this Toydarian makes most of his money by gambling on the local podraces, including the Boonta Eve Classic. Watto won his two slaves, Shmi and Anakin Skywalker, from Gardulla the Hutt on one of the podraces he bet on, but lost Anakin to Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in the same way when the boy surprisingly overcame impossible odds and won the Boonta Eve Classic.
