Most of my writing is poetry, a distillation of my past; occasionally I get back in touch with reality and write a factual node.
Believe it or not, I do intend to look at those bookmarked nodes below!
Some of my favorite nodes:
My absolute favorite has been Rachel at 18, by JohnnyGoodyear. (It has been deleted -- why???) I hope that one day I can write something a tenth as good as that.
The rest in no particular order:
You could be the Willow, I could be the Wind. by Angela
and when you woke up, your goldfish bowl was empty? by Chras4
Her picture in my wallet, fading, fraying, the face that launched a thousand emotions by IWhoSawTheFace
Balloons whose strings have slipped from unclutched hands by etouffee
When I am dead, my dearest by Christina Rossetti, noded by cureobsession
They say the prettiest girls get to be angels by Dimview
How did I get here, Sarah? by junkpile
love is simple by prole
Melissa walks by erias
I am the juice box girl by Mer
"I don't really love you" by wonko (which has since been deleted)
Most of my poems are sonnets. I posted twenty-five sonnets I wrote years ago, in batches of five. You can see those at Five sonnets of vanity and the other four nodes listed at the top of that write-up. The sonnets I've written since I came to E2, from newest to oldest:
Venus, when she is the evening star
Now we know
Talk is cheap
Even the moon like to change her colors
sunshower
Cassandra
Foul-weather friend
abroad
I would recognize that face anywhere
The quiet girl
Guile
May I show you off to the firmament?
I upbraided the night
And one that's not so serious: AOL Instant Messenger.
Free verse:
performance anxiety
Water nymph
I peer across a chasm and you peer back
A land of magic entered my mind
I've heard your song
A rose from night sprang living
Ageless Flaw
My Offering
A Night in Late June
And finally, poems with assorted rhyme and meter:
the wise mapmaker omits his home
Delirious with me, rhapsodize
Frozen in time
My factual nodes are mostly about math or computers:
Erlang, a programming language
xth root of x
Interquartile Mean
longest common subsequence
... but sometimes I let loose!
Monopoly
The King Must Die: a review of the book, which retells the myths of Theseus
Italian conjugation : Imperfect Tense
