It's debated that this song is a reference to Moliere's Don Juan/Mozart's Don Giovanni (which are both about the same person and similar story). The plot is basically that Don befriends a statue, which ends up killing him and sending him to hell. John Linnell is said to have credited this meaning to the song, but claimed "I didn't know it when I wrote it."
