Every single person knows it, the table with two chairs, one that is always empty. Its emptiness stares back at you.
"Are you waiting for someone?"
Yes, though I don't know when she will show up, or who she is. Maybe she is already here... That young woman a few tables down? The woman now walking out the door? One of the waitresses? Or maybe the waitress who worked here a few weeks ago and followed her dream to become a grade school teacher? I don't know.
No, just a table for one.
