Super Bowl XXXVII saw the
Oakland Raiders face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in
San Diego, California
on Sunday, 26 January 2003. Excluding "pre-game" coverage,
the official coverage started at 3:00 pm PST,
broadcast on the ABC network.
The game was played in Qualcomm Stadium.
The bookmakers (at least those who write for the New York Post) had
Oakland to win by 3 1/2 points; over/under = 44 points.
While every talking head was painting the matchup as the seasoned
veterans (Oakland) versus the spirited youth (Tampa), the game was
not nearly as exciting as the slogan. The veterans left their Viagra
in the hotel and failed to arouse any competition. Unless you were a
Bucs fan, the game was a real snoozer. Dexter Jackson, Tampa's
starting free safety, won the Most Valuable Player
award for his two interceptions in the first half.
