Super Bowl XIV|Super Bowl XVI

January 25, 1981

Oakland quarterback (and MVP) Jim Plunkett threw for three touchdowns, including a record 80-yard pass, to help the Raiders become the first wild-card team to win the Super Bowl, defeating Phildelphia in their first (and to-date only) appearance.

The Raiders scored 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never really looked back, leaving the Eagles struggling to score even one touchdown which came early in the fourth quarter. Too little, too late, unfortunately.

Attendance for the game was 76,135. Oakland coach Tom Flores took home the trophy while Dick Vermeil headed up the Philadelphia team.
