| New Guinea is an island (about
twice the land area of the state
of Louisiana in the USA) on the
west edge of the Pacific Ocean,
just north of Australia. The
eastern half is the main land mass
of the nation of Papua New Guinea,
while the western half, if memory
serves, is now part of Indonesia.
