Nancy Pelosi serves on the House Appropriations Committeeand is the ranking Democrat on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. She chairs the Congressional Working Group on Chinaand Co-Chairs of the AIDS Task Force of the House Democratic Caucus. She serves on the House Bi-Partisan Task Force on Ethics
Pelosi comes from a family of public servants, both her father Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr., and her brother Thomas D'Alesandro III served as Mayor of Baltimore. Pelosi graduated from Trinity College in Washington, DC. Nancy and her husband, Paul Pelosi, a native of San Francisco, have five children: Nancy Corinne, Christine, Jacqueline, Paul and Alexandra.
Pelosi is pro-choice, against school vouchers, and for gun control. She actively criticizes China's human rights record, calling for the Congress to link trade with human rights and oppose China's bid for the 2008 Olympics. She is opposed to letting churches provide welfare services.
