• Although McSorley's had to start admitting women after losing their case in the Supreme Court in 1970, it wasn't until the 1980s that they actually installed a women's bathroom.
• The urinals in that place are among the largest I've ever seen. Its like peeing into a vertical bathub.
• During prohibition, they were indeed a speakeasy, serving beer in the basement. That's also the key to their claim to be the oldest saloon. Thy're not the oldest, but they are the oldest continuously operating. That claim is disputed by Pete's Tavern and the Bridge Cafe, which both also claim to be the oldest continously operating bar.
