Genetically engineered superman who menaced the Enterprise twice in Star Trek continuity, first in the episode Space Seed, and again in the movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. A warlord during Earth's Eugenics Wars, Khan and his followers were put into stasis and shot into space aboard the S.S. Botany Bay, to be thawed out centuries later by Kirk and crew. After a failed attempt to take over the Enterprise they were exiled on Ceti Alpha VI. Years later, a revenge-obsessed Khan took over the U.S.S. Reliant and seized the Genesis Device with the aim of blowing Kirk up. It didn't work, though Captain Spock was killed while saving the Enterprise from destruction.
