John Tesh did the
music for the
network coverage of the
Tour de France, which was
really neat, but then he also (along with
Phil Liggett) did
commentary on it! When I found out that it was not cool to like John Tesh, I was kind of
sad; it was
the end of childish innocence, really. I think his music is pretty neat (I also like
Manheim Steamroller, so
sod off) and his talents were wasted on
Entertainment Tonight.
What I've heard of his compositions tend toward the classical/jazz/fusion stylings that nowadays get pigeonholed as "New Age." The sweep and rhythmic intensity of his Tour de France music suited the event well.
