| As a blues pianist, his Kings of Rhythm recorded what was, arguably, the first rock and roll record, "Rocket 88" (done at Sun Studios in Memphis in 1951). Better known for his 60's guise as a guitarist, one half of the rhythm and blues counterpart to Sonny and Cher, alongside then-wife Tina. Cool back catalog, of varying quality (skip the glitzy stuff, grok the soul). Now more famous for not being a model husband; the current Mrs Ike is wife #13. |
