Any scriptures that make up the basis of a religion. Holy Writ usually includes at some messages that are said to have come directly from God or some equivelant eternal power. Holy Writ offers members of a religion spiritual guidance, as well as usually teaching an ethical code of conduct.

Some examples of holy writ include the Bible, the Qur'an, and the Torah.
