A superset of the General MIDI standard, created by Roland.

Roland's GS standard features everything offered by Warner's GM, but adds extra sounds and controllers.
The new sound bank consists mostly of variations of the old GM instruments, plus recreations of the MT-32 preset patches.
Other features include envelope controls plus reverb and chorus effects.
