This student housing complex is not safe. It's an old mansion, but the inside walls are all made of paper. The halls and stairways are uneven, and some are so narrow I have to crawl on my belly to get through them. There are no windows, and there are other students all over. If there were a fire, we'd all die within minutes. Claustrophobic! I have to get out!

We wouldn't be here if there weren't a civil war in the cities.

It's hard for me to run and catch up with the others when I'm carrying Baby Boy. They've forgotten I have a kid with me; but that's alright, I'll find them soon. They're so excited and innocent. They're going to the waterfront for hamburgers.

No hamburger stands here. The waterfront fairground lot is deserted; the unpaved ground is dusty. But there is a length of wood, like a pool cue but with a spiral carving. A magic wand! We all wish for unimaginable wealth, and for magical powers to read minds and fly and turn into animals.

And, of course, we wish for hamburgers.
