| Frequently bands can produce really good music, but the record company has no sense and picks the song that's probably going to sound like someone pulling their nails down a chalkboard to you.
The most obvious example of this is Radiohead's Creep. If you judged Radiohead by Creep, most people wouldn't listen to them. Even musicians fall into this trap. Paul Kelly on Triple J once mentioned the very Radiohead case mentioned above and how much he regretted it. Even Thom Yorke, Radiohead's lead singer, doesn't like creep.
