Depending on the size of the company, could be either a very fun or suicide-inducingly boring job. Large companies frequently have several DBAs, each with a different specialty. You may be hired as a DBA and find yourself executing DBCC commands all day and setting up backups. In a small company, on the other hand, the DBA may be something of a database-programming-manager, with authority to set and maintain standards (including the use of a cluestick). Setting standards is more fun that it sounds, because you get to think up cool new stuff to do.
