Carceri, or Tarterus, is the plane of Chaotic Neutral Evil in the AD&D/Planescape cosmology. It has a complex structure of nested globes on six layers, and is said to be seven times as hard to leave as to enter. The titans dwell here, imprisoned by Zeus for their crimes. In Greek mythology, Tarterus was said to be seven times as far below Hades as Hades was below Earth. Carceri lies between the Abyss and the Grey Waste.
