Australian record label founded in 1994 by Chris Crouch, who, at that time, was the
manager for The
Simpletons, an Australian band. The
indie band couldn't get anyone to sign them, so instead formed
Candle Records. They wanted to make a label for like-minded indie bands who needed a label, instead of making a corporation; (super cool if you ask me.)
During their first year they signed two more bands: Cuddlefish and The Lucksmiths. During the next 6 years they signed several more bands and released at least one compilation album each year, often releasing 2 or more. They put out a bi-monthly news-letter with information on their bands. They have a very well designed web site, (IMHO,) http://www.candlerecords.com.au/, which is the source for all the information in this w/u. They are currently distributed by MGM Distribution, and you can order their CD's from any major retail outlet. Some of their profits go to The Friends Of The Earth and Streets For People.
Is this the coolest record label in the world or what?
Currently (as of this w/u) signed under Candle Records:
*No longer signed with Candle Records
Update:
I have added nodes for The Simpletons, and The Mabels. The Lucksmiths' node was already there.
