A Christian covenant community founded in 1994 by Bo Gritz near Kamiah, Idaho. The residents of Almost Heaven see themselves as a sovereign nation that is independent of the rest of the United States, much like an Indian reservation. They have claimed that they will obey US laws, but only those "that make sense".
