Cartoonist and the creator of Dykes to Watch Out For. Born in Lockhaven, Pennsylvania, Bechdel attended Oberlin College. She claims as her influences Dr. Seuss, Richard Scarry, Edward Gorey, MAD Magazine, Norman Rockwell, Edward Lear, and the lesbian plumber on Green Acres. Her income has come exclusively from DTWOF since 1990, but she still enjoys mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, and her pet cat.
