E2 FAQ: How Did This Happen

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?? Everything is the byproduct of the deranged collective imagination of Rob Malda, and Nate Oostendorp. We were sitting around geeking out on some of the web databases such as IMDB, and The All-Music Guide and we mused about what it would be like to have a web database where you could store any sort of information: something abstracted so that you could write about anything you wanted to.
The problem comes with maintenence of the database. We both conjectured that trying to control this thing would only lead to ulcers and hair loss to whatever chump had to take care of this thing. Therefore we came up with the idea of having a communally-maintained database - something where joe-average user can vote to insure quality of content.
