Bobby Zamora joined Bristol as a trainee in 1999 and had loan spells with Bath and then Brighton - where he scored six goals in six games before joining the Seagulls permanently in August 2000. Many clubs showed interest in the young star, who arrived at the Withdean Stadium following a £100,000 move from Bristol Rovers in 2000. Since then he went on to attract rave reviews after scoring 63 goals in two seasons - helping the Seagulls win promotion two years running. He was named the PFA Player of the Year for Division 3 with his form attracting the notice of larger clubs.

Ended up with 83 goals in 134 matches for Brighton.

Glenn Hoddle was a well-known admirer of Bobby Zamora long before he eventually signed him during the transfer window in July 2003.

Tottenham signed the striker from Brighton for a bargain knocked down price of £1.5 million, and he became Hoddle's second addition to the squad before the 03/04 season after Portuguese striker Helder Postiga.

Unfortunately for Bobby, he did not get too many chances for Spurs, especially after Glenn Hoddle was sacked. He scored one goal in 18 appearences (11 of them as a sub) before he was a part of a swap deal for West Ham's Jermain Defoe. He started brightly for West Ham though, scoring in his debut game.
