Americans used to joke about Post Office workers going on shooting rampages. It actually created a new phrase, Postal or Going Postal. Since 1995, however, there have been more workplace shootings, none of which involved post offices. Perhaps we need to change "Going Postal" to "Going Cubicle".

  • July 19, 1995: Willy Woods fatally shot four supervisors in Los Angeles, California. Woods worked as an electrician at the Erwin Poper Tech Center. Woods is serving life imprisonment.

  • April 3, 1995: Refinery worker James Simpson fatally shot five people where he used to work in Corpus Christi, Texas. He commited suicide.

  • April 24, 1996: Fireman Kenneth Tornes killed four supervisors at his Jackson, Mississippi firehouse. He was executed by the state.

  • September 15, 1997: Assembly-line worker Arthur Wise (allegedly) fatally shot four people at the plant he was fired from in Aiken, South Carolina. His trial is still pending.

  • December 18, 1997: Arturo Torres killed four people in the maintenance yard he was fired from in Orange, California. He was killed by the police in a shootout.

  • March 6, 1998: Accountant Matthew Beck fatally shot four executives at the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. He commited suicide.

  • July 29, 1999: Mark Barton fatally shot nine people in two Atlanta, Georgia brokerage offices. He commited suicide.

  • August 5, 1999: Alan Miller, a truck driver, killed three people at his Pelham, Alabama office. He was convicted and awaits execution.

  • November 2, 1999: Byran Uyesugi killed seven people in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a copier technician working at Xerox. Serving life imprisonment.

  • December 30, 1999: Silvio Izquierdo-Leyva (allegedly) fatally shot five co-workers at the hotel where he worked in Tampa, Florida. Trial pending.

  • March 20, 2000: Robert Harris killed five people at his Dallas, Texas car wash. Awaiting death sentence.

  • December 27, 2000: Morgan McDermott (allegedly) fatally shot seven co-workers in his Wakefield, Massachusetts Internet company, Edgewater Technology. He pled not guilty, trial pending.
