| A collection of users, on an everything system. Specifically on E2, a usergroup is a system structure that grants or revokes certain privileges within the system.
For example, members of the usergroup editors have the ability to nuke writeups, and place things on the Page of Cool. Members of the usergroup gods can directly edit the entire system. Members of usergroup e2bestusers can do a lot of things that otherwise only a god could do, but only to a certain subset of the database (primarily the doctypes related to e2nodes and writeups). (As of the time of this writeup, nobody outside of members of the group gods is in e2bestusers.)
Members of the usergroup edev have the ability to view most of the non-restricted information (meaning: most of everything that isn't in the Restricted Superdoc doctype, or things that are not viewable using any gods-defined displaytype -- user email addresses and passwords aren't visible, for example), but not edit anything that normal users can't edit. |
