| Our school recently installed cameras in strategic places around the building. I guess they want to make sure we don't bring in guns, sell drugs, etc. For the past few weeks, my friends and I have been wondering why security cameras were installed, since the student body isn't all that bad. We got our answer.
Our Chemistry 2 cirriculum covers qualitative analysis. One of the reagents used is hydrochloric acid, HCl. The HCl is in a two gallon jug, and extremely concentrated. I'm not exactly sure of the molar concentration, but it's above 15 M. One girl accidently broke the jug. It's contents were splashed all over her clothes and her friends pants. Immediately, the teacher told them to strip down. Any clothes that had been hit with the acid should be removed. The girl that dropped the jug was down to a bra and panties. Her friend removed her pants to reveal the thong she was wearing.
The two had to walk across the building to the nurses office where they sat waiting for the ambulance. This walk across the building has been the best possible reason for installing cameras throughout the school. |
