The branch of medical science that uses ionizing radiation to treat or diagnose disease. This includes the use of any kind of X-RAY or CT scan, Gamma Knife cancer therapy, and, on the research end of things, functional neuroimaging such as PET and SPECT. Radiologists sometimes use MRI (and fMRI), too, although MRI has more to do with supercooled superconducting electromagnets than radiation.
