I suppose we should all just use the
Latin
term to clear up exactly what a
bramble
versus a
prickly ash
is. To me, it describes those noble
flowerless
creatures that inhabit
my land
by the
score
, covered in
rose bush
sized thorns. They can grow from their
seed
, but most also, like the
scrappy bastards
they are, they send up little shoots from their huge
root structure
. Their roots spread rapidly along the
surface
, but do not go deep. They are a distant
member of the citrus family
, but do not yield anything
worth eating
. Their pleasantly
tangy
smelling berries can cause a rash in some
folks
. I should know,
I have tried
them as
aftershave
. It looked like I had
ritually burned
my face.
This gave me a funny idea
, which I may tell you about later.
