mission

The Mission Dolores district of San Francisco is the heart of the local Hispanic community. It's home to a great many Mexican and South American grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, etc. It also has a number of interesting murals. Certainly an interesting place to walk around.

As with most neighborhoods in San Francisco, despite its label it's really not in any way homogeneous (inasmuch as any 100% Hispanic area could be considered remotely homogeneous anyway!). The Mission district also contains a number of quality used bookstores, music stores and comic book stores that don't actually cater to the Spanish-speaking community, plus China Books and Good Vibrations. Go figure.
