Created by Eris and engraved with "Kallisti" (greek for "to the most beautiful"), it was thrown into a divine party as revenge for the original snub. The gods fought over the apple, and eventually picked Paris to chose the most beautiful. In exchange for picking a winner, Paris got Helen. That guy came with an army, starting the Trojan War.
