Another musical term for 2-2 time. This meter is used if the song puts the stress on two beats in a whole note length measure instead of the usual four. Notated with a fancy ¢ after the key signature, or right after the barline if there is a meter change in the middle of the song.

Cut time (also called "alla breve") in music notation is represented by a stylized 'C' with a vertical line through it where the time signature would normally be. It represents 2/2 time, and is so called because it is equivalent to common time but "cut in half".
