In the human visual system, binocular disparity is the difference in the positions of the same object in images viewed by the left and right eyes. This positional difference, called the disparity, is used by the visual system to triangulate the distance to the object and to fuse the left and right views into one. Binocular disparity is the result of binocular parallax. Binocular disparity is one of the physiological cues in depth perception.
