ack-nak protocol

Any protocol that requires the recipient of a message to either acknowledge (ack) or negative-acknowledge (nak) receipt the message back to the originator. Ack is usually indicitive of a good reciept, while nak indicates the message was invalid or not properly received (as in a CRC error.)
