Actually, I like most of the innovations that
Grum has cited in his writeup. However, one thing that I think should go, which hasn't been mentioned is the shortened time allowed between each down. The intention was that this would make the games move more quickly by forcing the offense to make a play. However, in the Law of Unintended
Consequences, what it has really resulted in is more Delay of Game
penalties and inopportune
time outs. I wholeheartedly agree with Grum about the point after
touchdown. Instead of a bogus kick, which is virtually automatic, the league has made this like the 2 point conversion in the
NFL, where the team must run or pass it into the end zone. This is something the
NFL should consider adapting themselves.
