Virtual Circuit Identifier.

In ATM technology, a virtual circuit is contained in a virtual path. The 16-bit VCI (when combined with the VPI) uniquely identifies the route of an ATM cell; a VPI/VCI identifier is similar in function to the MAC address on an Ethernet network.
