(Latin).Originally an inscription stamped, by order of King Louis XIV, onto the barrels of all cannons forged in his native France during his reign. It translates to English as 'The Final Argument of Kings.'

This was also engraved on a small plaque attached to Reason, the prototype gatling-railgun in Stephenson's Snow Crash.

"Don't worry, I'm sure they'll listen to reason...."
