A bizarre and somewhat sinister book of short poem-like stories written and illustrated by
Tim Burton
. Each story describes some kind of grusomely freakish 'child' unlike anything you have ever seen or heard. The short blurb on the back of the book describes these characters as "misunderstood
outcast
s who struggle to find love and belonging in their
cruel, cruel world
s." Some of the individual stories are so short that you can hardly read so much into them, but as an entire series, that common theme does show through.
The illustrations that accompany each story are very true to Burton's usual dark drawing/
design style
and often add emphasis, and definite humor to the stories that I was obviously not able to capture in these nodes.
