| A group or tribe of like-minded techies who often share similar fashions or interests. Popular tech tribes include linux users, microserfs, hackers, crackers, computer scientists, geeks, nerds, wannabe geeks, girl geeks, computer gamers, rpgamers, etc. This list goes on and most tribes can be subdivide into sub tribes. For example, linux users can be subdivided into redhat users, freebsd users, etc.. while computer scientists could perhaps be subdivided into connectionists, classicists say. What is more, a single techie may belong to several techie tribes. The study of tech tribes, techanthropology I suppose, is obviously a complex subject and beyond the scope of this node. |
