While there have been various "Internationals" over the past two centuries. The present Socialist International (http://www.socialistinternational.org) is a group comprising the world's
social democratic and labour parties.
Following the Second International's split over the issue of communism (and the subsequent communist Third and Fourth Internationals), those groups that wanted reform and not revolution banded together as the Labour and Socialist International. Following World War Two the group re-constructed itself as the Socialist International, headquartered in Frankfurt.
Currently Socialist International member parties dominate European politics, forming the government or main opposition in most of Europe, but are active in all parts of the world. The Socialist International is also represented at the UN as an observer party. Current member, consultative, and observer parties are:
