| SliMP3, an MP3 Player for your living room
The SliMP3 is a nifty little gadget which solves a lot of issues today's nerds have with digitally stored music. Essentially it is a small rectangular box with a large fluorescent display that connects via ethernet to your Windows/Linux powered PC or to your Mac running OS X and reproduces MP3 files streamed to it, connected to the aux port of your stereo.
It is also capable of reproducing streaming audio from the Internet. The embedded firmware and server software is open source.
Now, although it doesn't sound revolutionary, the idea is actually clever: no need anymore to burn all those CD's or Minidiscs, no need to store an ugly PC with a Monitor behind your HiFi Tower - you can keep the server in your homeoffice and just have a single ethernet cable laid under the carpet or through the wall. The SliMP3 comes with a remote control so you don't even have to get up from your chair to change the playlist.
