The Shawanagunk Mountains are located in New Paltz, NY. They cater primarily to trad climbing and bouldering. Upon arriving there, one can expect to encounter a fairly crowded parking lot and a $7/climber fee. There is a free campsite just down the road. I believe that there is a cost associated with climbing, because it is part of the Mohonk Preserve.
