| Seborrheic Dermatitis (or Seborrhea) usually referes the excessive oiliness of the skin, more often around the face and scalp. It is a fairly common skin disorder, and is usually only a cosmetic problem.
Symptoms are red inflammation of the skin in areas where there are a large number of oil glands, covered by yellowish, greasy looking scales.
Sometimes the condition disappears without treatment,
but it can be relieved with treatment. Treatments include medicated shampoos containing salicylic acid,
selenium sulfide, sulfur, tar or zinc pyrithione. More often than not, however, the symptoms resurface after the treatment stops.
