Connecting me to old freenode, the ancient place of yore.
While I start connecting, attempting to log in,
I ponder upon the merry way of the self-sent SYN.
Returned by ACK, the modest SYN is long forgotten now.
The future lies in markup and transfer protocols,
however no-one quite knows how.
Without the SYN, we would have been
quite lost from the beginning.
The humble SYN and ACK, its twin,
will always keep on winning.
