RIO. Originally a short-lived collective (circa 1978) of art-rock bands, united by an anti-commercial, anti-establishment mindset (Henry Cow, Zamla Mammaz Manna, Univers Zero, Etron Fou Leloublan...), the name can now also denote the musics&made (since then) by the musicians from those bands, or the music of latter-day bands inspired by them. RIO often does not conform to the mass audience's idea of what "rock" is supposed to be; it rocks nonetheless.
