| A darn fine trumpeter, back before we were born; a great jazz arranger whose best work was on film and TV soundtracks in the 60's and 70's. He has become "producer to the stars" in recent decades, with slick, expensive, pristine-sounding works: you can decry this Hollywood Crap, but you can't fault the sound. Still dealing with his long-running addictions to fame, money, power, and blondes. Faves: early Brothers Johnson, and any detective show he (or J.J. Johnson) ever did. |
