"A person with pretensions to cultural or intellectual sophistication (cf. 'pseudo-intellectual')", according to http://www.logophilia.com/WordSpy/pseud.html. I wonder if anyone's told him?

The British satirical magazine, Private Eye has a Pseuds' Corner in every episode, devoted to reprinting the outright verbal fraudery of those pseuds who are known to the popular press. Martin Amis, for example, rarely goes unquoted.

Here's a little taster -

The colour of snow
The taste of tears
The enormity of Ocean.
