| If, like I did, you swiped a bunch of 7400 chips from your first lab course in digital logic (for the countless hours spent hunched over those damned circuits, you deserve more than just a lousy grade, dammit), they're probably sitting around somewhere, not being used. Why? Because you don't remember all the pin-outs for those worthless things any more than you remember what the four types of flip-flops are. Of course, if you had some kind of handy reference, you could use these chips to build all kinds of useful logic circuits; like one that could turn on the hard drive LED on your tower when the last digit of your digital clock is a 7.
